Adriano Tosetto, 45 years of delivering experience excellence in transformers and electrifying our world

I am Adriano Tosetto. I’m a Senior Adviser for Hitachi Energy in Brazil. I joined the company as a draftsman when I was 19. Even as a teenager, I have always been interested in machines and electricity. Now, after 45 years of working in the energy industry and contributing with several projects offering unique learnings, I am in the field of developing transformers.

No matter how energy is generated, transformers can convert electricity from one voltage to another. Transformers are essential to the entire system, transmitting and distributing electricity everywhere. That means they will continue to be in demand, guaranteeing us to work for another 40 years?!

These days, many customers are interested in HVDC projects. When I started working here, everyone was fascinated  for the Itaipú hydropower plant project, thirty years later, it was the project for the Rio Madeira Hydroelectric Complex and later, the project for the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant . Now we have international orders for India, Egypt, and the US.

Together with my colleagues, I am proud to contribute to a more sustainable world by helping build new technologies that improve the way clean energy is delivered over long distances.

Transformers have evolved, but the biggest changes since I started were the tools. Forty years ago, we designed everything with a pencil, paper, and calculator. Today, computer graphics show us 3D models and many other programs.

I’m happy and proud to be collaborating with a dynamic team. We come from different backgrounds, so we spend hours sharing our knowledge. The process is long, but when we see our deliveries and figure out the distinct contributions each has made, we realize that this is a great differential.

I am proud to be a part of an organization that promotes a good future for many generations, including my daughter’s.

To be part of the process and see how the impact of our projects in society, my country, and the entire world can inspire the next brings me good feelings.
